A recent addition to the YTA Board of Directors, Steve Charikar is a valued member of the Associations leadership and a champion for the YTA and the Greater Toronto Region Tech Cluster.

Steve is the Chief Information Officer for Seneca College, where he leads a division that provides a broad range of Technology services to the College's communities both internally and externally. With campuses throughout the Greater Toronto Area, Seneca’s size and diversity give students the advantage of partnerships with industry leaders, the latest in hands-on computer technology, a variety of class sizes, and full-time, part-time and continuing education options.

Prior to Seneca, Steve worked for the Ontario Government and was accountable for delivering IT Infrastructure services to ministries like Finance, Social Services, Children and Youth services, Service Ontario etc.

Raised in Mumbai, India, Steve immigrated to Canada in 1986 and completed his education in Canada, graduating from University of Waterloo with a degree in Mathematics. He is also certified in ITIL and Project Management methodology. Steve lives in Markham with his wife, a daughter and son and a Labradoodle called Rocky. Steve is also a Board member of GTANet, a member of the York Region IT Directors group and past president of Congregation BINA – a nonprofit organization catering to a small community of Jews from India. Steve is currently pursuing his MBA with Athabasca University.
