Helping children at risk, troubled teens, and families through mental health services and family counseling.
Greetings!

If you watch the local news on any given night, you know just how grave the issue of child abuse and neglect can be in our region. The stories are so tragic and the problem is so great, it is easy to feel helpless or hopeless.

But each of us can make a difference!
Blue Ribbon

In commemoration of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, River Oak is encouraging everyone in our community to play an active role in making Sacramento-area families healthy families, free from abuse and neglect. We've gathered together a list of 10 things you can do any time of the year to make this important goal possible.

Of course, we at River Oak are also playing our part. Our agency provides families with a wide variety of innovative and research-based programs and services that help parents and caregivers achieve the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to strengthen their families, reduce their stress levels, meet their basic needs, and keep safe. "Together, the home visitation and parent education helped me be a better mom because I can discipline effectively. It opened a new world, different from how I was raised. I know how to express love to my children."
                                   -- Janel, parent

Birth and Beyond Community Response (BBCR) is just one of many free and voluntary support services provided by the River Oak Family Resource Center to families at risk for child abuse or neglect. BBCR promotes the health and safety of children through home visitation services and parenting workshops that help families improve their parenting skills and reduce their feelings of stress. By ensuring that parents and caregivers have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to maintain a healthy family, every one of us can help prevent child abuse and neglect. It is thanks in great part to your support that River Oak can take up that charge and deliver these valuable and life-saving services to families in need. We are forever grateful for the opportunity.
