Helping children at risk, troubled teens, and families through mental health services and family counseling.

Greetings!

For those of us who have ever raised children, how many times do you remember thinking to yourself -- when your child was in the throes of an outburst and simply would not listen to a word you said -- "I wish someone would help me and tell me what to do?"

As parents and caregivers of children with serious emotional and behavioral problems, River Oak families face such moments of uncertainty, frustration, and despair on a daily basis - moments that could potentially lead to abuse. River Oak is pleased to announce that our agency is adding another child abuse prevention program to our array of services that will help our families through such difficult times, called Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). The addition of this nationally recognized and research-based practice makes River Oak the only Sacramento-area nonprofit providing as many as eight such practices to children and families in need in our community.

So, what exactly is PCIT?

Who is it for?

Why is it so effective?

And when will River Oak begin providing this service?

We invite you to find the answers on the PCIT Fact Sheet page of our website, and discover how PCIT helped one girl and her family!

CRAB FEED TO BENEFIT RIVER OAK

If you like crab, you'll love this all-you-can eat fundraiser on February 27th, sponsored by Active 20-30 Sacramento #1032! Proceeds will benefit River Oak and other local charities that serve underprivileged children. For ticket, location, and other information, click here!

Thank you for your continued commitment to our mission and to our community's vulnerable children and families. Our ability to provide life-changing programs like PCIT that nurture family relationships and help to keep children safe from abuse is due in great part to donors and friends like you. The financial, in-kind, and moral support we receive makes it all possible!

With gratitude,
