Greetings!

To demonstrate how much your holiday donations and support mean to our families, I'd like to share the following letter we received last year from one of our single moms:

Dear River Oak,

Words cannot describe how thankful I am that you made the holidays come true for Jason and Anthony.  I was dreading the thought that my kids would wake to find nothing under the tree -- what would I have said to them?  Thanks to River Oak, I did not have to live through that heartbreaking moment.  Your support is a true gift to families like mine.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

-- Alexis

Every holiday season, we at River Oak are overcome with gratitude and appreciation for the tremendous generosity shown by the community to our children and families during this special time of year.  The support we receive comes in many forms and from many sources:

  • A grandmother who donates lovingly hand-knit Barbie clothes so children can have several outfits for their new dolls.
  • A long-time friend who for 14 years now throws a house party to collect toys and other gifts for our children and teens.
  • A local barber shop that hosts a toy drive that supplies gifts not only for the holidays but also for birthdays and other special occasions throughout the year.
  • A group of quilters who makes handmade stockings to distribute to our children each year.
  • Customers at the Roseville Barnes and Noble store who donate hundreds of new books annually that give the gift of reading to children of all ages.
  • Dozens of local businesses that hold office parties, toy drives and giving trees that provide hundreds of new toys and clothing for our children and teens.
  • Donors who make financial contributions that help River Oak provide support for children and families during the holidays and every day of the year.

These are but a few examples of the outpouring of support River Oak receives during the holidays.  With continued help this year from caring people like you, Alexis, Jason, Anthony, and so many other River Oak children and families can take part in the joy of giving and receiving that is such a central part of our holiday traditions.  We cannot thank you enough for this priceless gift!
