Candidates for the newly-drawn 4th Congressional District will debate. Jim Jordan, the Republican incumbent, Jim Slone, Democrat, and Chris Kalla, Libertarian. This nonpartisan public event is offered as a service to the voting public by the League of Women Voters of the Oberlin Area. City council member and League member Sharon Soucy will introduce the participants as well as moderate the audience participation portion of the event through submitted questions. Questioning the candidates will be Andrew Young, editor of Elyria's Chronicle Telegram, Roy Church, president of Lorain County Community College, and Oberlin College geology professor Bruce Simonson. For more information please contact Linda Slocum.

Father Patrick Henry Reardon will be speaking on his most recent book "The Jesus We Missed: The Surprising Truth About the Humanity of Christ." He will also be speaking on the Syrian conflict, as he was part of a 2011 Orthodox delegation sent to Syria by Metropolitan Philip to investigate the internal political situation in that country, particularly with respect to its Christian minority.
