Darwinii: The Comeuppance of Man Performance 9/30 8 pm, 10/1-2, 8pm, Warner Mainspace; Free but ticketed, tickets available in Hall
What if Charles Darwin had fathered a child when his ship, HMS Beagle stopped briefly at Tierra del Fuego? What if this great-great-great-great-love grandchild of the father of natural selection were named-not Groucho, Harpo, Curly or Gogo-but Cristóbal? What if this intense, seriously ridiculous savant, illiterate but deeply knowledgeable about the theory of natural selection were on tour bringing his postmodern spin on the origin of species to your hometown? You'd be looking at a once in a lifetime chance to see Darwinii: The Comeuppance of Man, a swashbuckling, one-man "tour de farce" that deftly skewers everything you think you know about Darwin. It is a unique and imaginative trip 'round Darwinism, deep time, evolution, and survival of the fittest that's also serious fun. Conceived by playwright Glen Berger and writer-performer Brett Keyser (appearing in the role of Cristóbal). Presented by the Mead-Swing Lectureship Fund, the Leading Edge Fund for the Humanities, the Student Assemblies Committee, the Oberlin College Biology Department, and the Oberlin College Theatre and Dance Program.
