Date Night...With Children (Part 1 of a New Series)
Mandina's Restaurant, New Orleans | Let's face it, sometimes there's no option for a babysitter, or you just want to get out on a Saturday, have fun, AND bring the kids. If you're tired of the Chuck E. Cheese option, we consulted our best parent connections for ways to enjoy a Saturday night out with the kids no matter where you live. While this area has always been pretty family-focused, finding a place that feels like the grownups had a date night and the kids don't feel shoved in the corner or expected to behave in ways that are beyond their years can be tricky. Here's the start of places to go for a nice evening with children. This month, we start in New Orleans.
Non-cheesey, non-gooey food Ninja Sushi One of the first sushi restaurants to open in New Orleans. We always loved how it incorporates local ingredients and flavors into traditional sushi. While not the fanciest place, it remains a great place to go with kids. From a nice selection of non fishy items (sweet potato tempura rolls) for the squeamish, to the airplane or train dishes and rubber-banded chopsticks, to the marble-topped Ramune soft drinks, this place will definitely appeal to kids while the adults get a wide array of Japanese choices in addition to sushi. As well as a great selection of beer and sake.
Read more about Mandina's, Gelato Pelazzo, and The Spotted Cat and don't forget to send recommendations for a Northshore date night with kids. Send us your suggestions and we'll use that to compile our list.
Reviews and articles are not paid solicitations and are original, independent content. But, as always, let them know you read about it in the Ponchy-Train Connection.
