FAMILIES CONNECT!
In addition to how utterly awesome this year's Superbowl and Mardi Gras seasons were, we've been really busy! March is when we work with our community to showcase what's available for families at our two Expo events. Come visit us on the North Shore or at Lakeside Mall and help plan your spring and summer activities for your kids.
In addition, we offer our growing directory of camps, classes, and more to enrich your kids and guarantee them a fun and fulfilling summer. Be sure to visit us often for the latest on these things and more at www.kidsandfamilyonline.com. |
Expos for Families March13 & 20
It's EXPO TIME. Get the family out for some fun at a few family days and expos sponsored by Kids & Family North Shore and Kids & Family New Orleans.
These events celebrate children and families and provide a one-stop "shopping" experience to learn about schools, businesses and community organizations that cater especially to them. Parents get to visit a wide selection of booths with information on upcoming enrollment times for summer camp programs and also get to see an array of local businesses showcasing their goods and services--with food, music, entertainment and freebies for the whole family to enjoy.

Getting Your Kids to Volunteer
We found this great article from Online Christian Colleges on how to get kids to volunteer. This article was written around Christmas, but the ideas are fantastic year-round. Because organizations nationwide restrict many volunteer opportunities to people over age 18, getting younger kids involved to teach them how to be good citizens can be even more difficult.
In the current economy, jobs are scarce, especially for teens, so if the point of getting your child out into the world is more for them to gain life experience and not necessarily earn essential cash, encourage them to do it for free. Volunteer experience looks great on college applications and a job resume. They will learn some valued skills along the way and may learn more about what they want to do when "they grow up."
Check out this list for some great ideas to get your kids helping out their community.
