Help to Feed the Hungry
We're grateful for being a
part of the New Orleans and Northshore communities. We also are excited to see the subscriber list
to Ponchy-Train grow since our September
launch! This year, we'd like to "pay it forward" by donating $300 to local food banks in both communities on behalf
of YOU! To sweeten the deal, if you can help us grow our mailing list by at least 10 percent in November, we'll throw
in an additional $100. So, pass along this newsletter to your friends and get
them to
sign up from now until Nov. 30! HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Three Simple Tips for a Stress-Free Thanksgiving
Let's face it. We all greet the holiday season with a sense of excitement and a little bit of dread. Seeing family and friends, cooking big meals, hosting gatherings are all great, but sometimes the stress can prevent you from enjoying it all.
After the holidays, no one will remember the imperfect pie, the dry turkey, or the dust bunnies cropping up from under the couch during the game. So...RELAX. We'd like to offer you three simple tips to de-stress your holidays. Read them, practice them, and have a great Holiday.
TIP #1 Don't let the turkeys get you down. This goes for birds in the oven and the turkeys in your family. First, give the turkey a break. It might not be perfect. Seems like people enjoy just about ANY turkey on Thanksgiving. Don't sweat it. And, as for the turkeys in your family who mumble, grumble, or try and cause a scene: You don't have to get sucked into their negativity.

Time to Kick-off the Holidays!
Vianne's in Old Mandeville offers a children's Teddy Bear Tea on Nov. 30.
Each month, we offer a comprehensive list of events covering both the Northshore and the New Orleans area. Below are a few highlights, but be sure to check out our entire listings.
Check out the programs for young children at Longue View
Plantation. On Nov. 10, take the tots out for the weekly "Kinder-Garden"
program where the feature will be "Creepy Crawlies." Longue View offers weekly
garden programs for young children on Tuesdays and a "Little Masters" program
on Thursdays.
Want to have a fun night on a Friday with the kids? 3 Ring
Circus in New Orleans offers Friday Night Music Camp two Fridays in November. Art projects for the kids and drinks for all while listening to live music makes for a rocking good
time. On Nov. 13, it's music by Mein 66 from Atlanta, and on Nov. 27
you can rock out with Washboard Chaz.
Also, the weekend of Nov. 13-15, grab a Monster Soft Shell Crab at the River Parishes Fall Festival in Norco. Live music, rides, and great food all weekend.
On the Northshore, on Nov. 14, get to Barnes and Noble in
Mandeville at 9 a.m so the kids can meet Clifford the Big Red Dog. Lots of Big Red
handshakes and stories.
We also recommend checking out the ongoing parenting center
classes at St. Tamany Parish Hospital. Classes in November include New Baby
Support Group, Creative Movement, Toddlin Time, and Cuddle Time. For more
information on dates, times, and fees, see our Northshore events listing.
On Nov. 21, traditions abound as Christmas in the Oaks kicks off in City Park. A special Children's Preview party will be held on Nov. 22 from 5-8pm ($30 tickets). Rides, food and entertainment for the pint-sized patrons of City Park. And, lest we forget, Santa arrives in style at Lakeside Shopping Center.
Finally, we think a Teddy Bear Tea sounds like great fun. On Nov. 30,
Vianne's in Old Mandeville offers a full holiday tea for children and their
adults. Kids get to take their favorite lovey to tea and sit in their own
special tables. See our events page for reservation details.
For information on these events and even more activities, groups, classes, and
special events on both sides of the Lake, visit our events calendars and
be sure to bookmark!
