Greetings!

Autumn is on its way and the New Forest is the perfect place to pull on your wellies and explore the wealth of wildlife in the National Park.

This month we've been working with the Natural History Museum to take an in-depth look at the unique New Forest habitats. If you fancy finding out more about our landscape yourself, why not check out our wildlife calendar or download our app to find out what is underfoot?

If two wheels are more your style, the New Forest Cycle Festival supported by the National Park is not to be missed.

Best wishes,
The New Forest National Park Authority team

Compiling the New Forest species inventory
The exotic country of Paraguay seems far removed from the New Forest.
Yet two teams from the Natural History Museum are focussing on these remarkable landscapes to map the hugely varied species that can be found there. Supported by the National Park, the New Forest project is already underway.
Pigs on the loose

pigA glut of acorns this year means that pigs have been let out earlier than usual to eat up the Forest feast.
Every autumn, commoners turn their pigs out to eat the acorns which are poisonous to ponies.
Find out more about the ancient right of pannage in the New Forest.
Gearing up for a two-wheeled festival

CyclistsCyclists young and old are gearing up for a festival with a difference in the New Forest National Park.
As well as three popular on and off road events on 2 and 3 October - part of the nationwide Wiggle Super Series - the two-day New Forest Cycle Festival will appeal to beginners and experienced riders of all ages.
