Removing light etches on marble and limestone countertops
Dull spots created when liquids containing acids are spilled on marble is called etching. Marble and Limestone etch very easily. Granite is more acid-resistance and will rarely etch. To prevent etching avoid using cleaners and chemical that contain acids. Many common products such as toothpastes, colognes, perfumes, soaps, and even contact eye solution can etch a polish marble or limestone surface. Almost everything in the refrigerator will also etch these surfaces. On the bathroom countertops. some light etching will show up as a dull spots. These dull spots can be removed with the Magic Al's Polishing Creme and Stone Pro's Natural Touch Etch Remover. A more detailed explanation of the Loss of shine and Etching can be found at:
http://www.davethemarbleguy.com/tenstoneproblems.htm Feature Products Directions:

Magic Al's polishing creme has a 3" hogs hair pad in it.  Put a small amount of the polishing creme on the pad, add a little water and rub to watch the etch disappear.  More polishing creme, more polish (BE Careful) less water and weight more shine.  Some etches can be removed with just a little bit of polish creme, rinse with water, and buff out with a dry towel.  If you decide to us an orbital sander, please be careful, the high rpm's can over polish. (More water and less polish).

Stone Pro's Natural Touch Etch Remover can be used with just a towel and a few drops rub it into the stone to remove light etches.  Clean with water and buff out with a dry towel.

Please remember these products are for light etching and severely damaged areas may require professional restoration.
