A MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

What a banner year Chorus Niagara has experienced!

Innovative concerts such as our Hunchback of Notre Dame silent cinema experience, sold-out Messiah performances, the ethereal Sounds of Light, and a sold-out Finale for our Feel The Spirit season closer; guest appearances at the Tree of Lights Charity Gala with vocal star Michael Burgess and the grand opening of the new Niagara Convention Centre; a record-breaking Sing-a-Thon, and our ubiquitous Hallelujah Flash Mob (YouTube counter now at 33 million plus and climbing!), followed up by a national appearance on CTV's Canada AM and countless articles, interviews and blogs - nationally and internationally - all about CN.

We are thrilled with the accumulated positive reactions and interest in Chorus Niagara. It has been a reaffirming validation for the many hours of dedicated commitment our choristers have put into their passion for choral singing and choral excellence. But we did not achieve this alone!  YOU, our friends, supporters, audience members and patrons have shared in this journey, attending concerts, responding with enthusiasm and contributing to our continued organizational health.

Thank you ALL for your most valued and much appreciated support! It is our great pleasure to sing for you and share with you our zeal, and our mission to entertain, enlighten and inspire through the performance of meaningful choral music.

Stay tuned for more exciting times ahead as we celebrate over the next three years Chorus Niagara's 50th Anniversary, my 25th Season with the Chorus, and the much anticipated opening of the new St. Catharines Centre for the Performing Arts.

New works, great classics, novel presentations and fresh new choral experiences await! Thank you again for your sustaining interest in Chorus Niagara...you keep us singing!  Happy Summer...see you in the Fall for another splendid season of song!

Robert Cooper, Artistic Director

ACCOLADES FOR "FEEL THE SPIRIT"

Feel the Spirit TiannaHOnce again Chorus Niagara's loyal supporters braved another rainstorm to attend a SOLD OUT performance at the Cathedral of St. Catherine on May 14!  The joint choirs ...Orpheus Choir of Toronto and Chorus Niagara were joined by the Side-by-Side High School Chorale,  the fabulous jazz soloist TiannaH and Shaw Festival's Jennifer Phipps who narrated the poetry of Imant Raminsh's Quaternity.

Some memorable comments from audience members:

         Glorious sound... rich and sumptuous

Quaternity...a splendid piece of work destined to enter the mainstream of great choral music... filled with moving lyricism and a wonderful interplay with a fine accompaniment.

How did you find TiannaH?...what a performance...

enhanced immeasurably by the choir and fine orchestra.

Rutter's Feel The Spirit could have diminished the Quaternity with the "commercial and trivial" but became the achievement of a triumph for all - soloist and chorister and orchestra.

You gave two choral ensembles an opportunity to sing new Canadian music by a fine composer that was beautifully set and quite challenging.

   Really a damn good show!

Also includes Beethoven's powerful and dramatic Mass in C major.
