SOUNDS OF LIGHT CONCERT SENSATIONAL

Sounds of Light

Those who braved the torrential rain on the evening of March 5 were treated to a concert of ethereal sound and light in  the beautiful setting of the Cathedral of St. Catherine.  The carefully selected visuals of Brock University's Joan Nicks, provided the backdrop for a memorable choral evening.  Reviews from audience members have been heartwarming and encouraging:

"Sounds of Light ... Superlative!!! Can we hear it again? Will you cut a CD?

Make this the opening performance for the new arts centre."

"Corlis' Oh Great Mystery with the cello was powerful.  Having worked for years in the Baltic States of the former Soviet Union and having had a former professor colleague as part of the human chain stretching from Vilnius to Riga to Tallinn, I found the piece by Peteris Vasks an emotional experience."

"The best I have heard from Chorus Niagara in eight years of attending"

SINGATHON 2011 a record-breaking success!

Singathon 2011Our annual Sing-a-thon fundraiser was a smashing success again this season.  With the notoriety of our  Hallelujah Chorus Food Court Flash Mob on YouTube, it  seemed fitting to hold this event at the Seaway Mall. The Manager of the mall, Michael Belcastro, and his team, made us feel welcome, helping immensely with the staging, food, and special limited edition t-shirts.  Best of all, they arranged for live streaming of the Sing-a-thon from the "Most Famous Food Court in the World" to the world via the internet.

Thanks to our six "celebrity" conductors who after a brief lesson from Artistic Director Robert Cooper, conducted the chorus with panache !

Once again, an unexpected event took place in the Food Court as one of our own choristers, Sarah DeGois received a surprise marriage proposal!  Click here to watch the Proposal!

The choir members rose to the challenge of raising a lofty goal of $45,000.00, and each singing section, "competed" to gather the highest percentage of pledges towards the final goal. Once again this year the Tenor section was victorious!

The real winner though is Chorus Niagara, which after all the hard work and the generosity of our donors announced a record-breaking total of over $53,000!  A Huge thank you to all who attended the event, pledged their support, participated in, and organized our biggest fundraiser ever!
