| What's new in the Health Care Industry ? |
With the recent health insurance premium increases, Blue Shield's announcement to give $167 million back to their 2 million subscribers back, is very welcome news. Read my blog for more details and to learn how much and when the money will be distributed.
Accordingly to the newest Health care Ranking Los Angeles ranked very poorly in clinical care. ( 53 rank out of 56). In Los Angeles, 28 % of all adults are uninsured, compared to 24% statewide and nationwide 13%. Our Primary Care Provider ratio is 884:1, versus nationwide 631:1. Only 73% of Angelenos are screened for diabetes compared to 89% nationwide, and our local mammography screening are with 53% low compared to 74% nationwide. As mentioned in my most recent blog preventive health care is instrumental in reducing overall healthcare cost. We Angelenos have a long way to go, and we must find a way to reduce the high number of our uninsured population; as well as improve the screening for preventive health care especially, for diabetic and asthma patients. Otherwise our health care premiums will remain high and the costs of our local and national budgets will continue to soar.

Long Term Care Insurance as a rider in a Universal Life Insurance
While many people are interested in exploring Long Term Care Insurance (LTC) many consumers are reluctant to make the final decision to purchase Long Term Care Insurance. Objections such as unforeseen rate increases and the possibility of never to having to use the LTC insurance before death are reasonable objections. If you are hesitant, than a Universal Life Insurance with a LTC rider might be the ideal tool. This way you know your annual premiums, and your heirs will be able to receive the full amount of life insurance in the event you did not need any or only partially needed Long Term Care.
