Greetings!
We just celebrated the one year anniversary of Obama's Healthcare Reform. Significant improvements have already been taken place, such as unlimited health care coverage and preventive care at zero cost for all new plans. However nothing has been done to keep the medical inflation in check. Medical Costs and Insurance Premiums go hand in hand. Over the past ten years the amount that health care insurers pay out to hospitals, doctors and patients has spiraled, rising by 5 to 11% each year, from roughly $1.3 trillion in 2000 to $2.5 trillion in 2009.  Yet few patients would say that the care they receive today is twice as good as the medical attention they received in 2000.
Health Care Reform
While there are endless lawsuits contesting the mandate that Americans must buy insurance, I would like to see more emphasis on efforts to keep medical costs under control, so that insurance premiums are manageable for most Americans.

Getting Ready for Spring Time accordingly to Chinese Medicine

While Winter is a time to conserve your energy and reduce activity, Spring is a time of regeneration, new beginnings, and a renewal of your spirit. Spring is the ideal time for the cleansing and rejuvenation of one's overall health and well-being. In Chinese Medicine, spring is represented by the wood "element"
Springwhich in turn is conceptually related to the liver and gallbladder organs. The liver is responsible for the smooth flowing of Qi (energy) throughout your body.

So, for optimum health this spring, get your Qi moving!

Good News - Health Insurance Premiums are more stable in 2011

Last weeks we all received good news, when Blue Shield dropped its plans to raise premiums this year.  Following discussions with State Insurance Commissioner Jones, Anthem Blue Cross has become the second major California insurer to alter its plans for rate hikes. Anthem will lower its planned July premium hikes, Rate Stabilization including increases to co-payments and deductibles, from 16.4 percent to 9.1 percent. Anthem claims to have lost $110 million in 2010 and expects to lose millions more in 2011. However, one of the reasons for the decreased sales in 2010 would have to be the fact that in the last quarter of 2010, very few individual Anthem plans were available.

Watch this dramatic video, to help you understand why there is a need to prepare for long term care. With the advances in medicine people are living longer than ever before. According to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services 70 % of those of us who reach age 65 will require long-term care services at some point in our lives. Compare that to the fact that only 5 out of 1000 Americans will suffer a catastrophic loss of their home due to fire.

Long term care is usually not medical care and generally does not require a doctor or nurse. It provides individuals with assistance in daily living in tasks such as bathing, eating, use of the toilet and dressing. Long term care can also include speech or occupational therapy, or assistance with light housekeeping and the  preparation of meals.
