Blue Shield's Rate Increase upsets everyone!
Deja Vue - But yes, it is even more obscene than last year's Anthem rate increases! It was not enough that, in the first quarter of 2011 Blue Shield increased the rates twice on several plans with some clients experiencing a 59 % increase on the Vital Shields plans. Blue Shield also rejected the appeal of the new California's commissioner Jones, when he asked them to delay the rate increases for 60 days, so that he would have a chance to review the rates. I am amazed that Blue Shield has not learned from Anthem's ordeal. Anthem found itself unable to sell any insurance policies in the last quarter of 2010 - and had to replace its 8 page application with a new application that is now 32 pages long. These were consequences of Anthem rate increase. Let's see what will happen to Blue Shield. Fortunately the new plans from Anthem and Cigna are approved and they do offer a 12 months rate guarantee with all the new health care reform benefits. Aetna and Healthnet offer only 6 months rate guarantees, and Kaiser no longer offers family plans, instead for each member of the family a separate 26 page application has to be filled out. This year we have alternatives, which we missed last year. So get your insurance plans complimentary reviewed, call me at 310-909-6135 or email me at info@solidhealthinsurance.com.

2011- It's this time to review your Life Insurance and Long Term Care plans
Life situations are constantly changing. Take the time to review your life insurance. Does your current policy cover the needs of your family? Are you planning to have a child, buy a house or did you had to borrow against your existing policies. Call me, to see if your family is adequate covered for the unexpected event.
On every day of 2011, 7000 Baby Boomers will be eligible to enroll into Medicare. Due to the recent economy downturn many chose not to buy Long Term Care Insurance. In 2010, the cost of a private room in a nursing home rose 4.6% to $ 83,545 per year. Medicare does not pay most nursing home bills and your family, while willing to help, may not be in a financial position to do so. Get a comparison quote from the many Long Term Providers and do not hesitate to contact me at 310-909-6135 or info@solidhealthinsurance.com.

January is "Poverty in America Awareness Month"
Today, 37.3 million Americans-and 1 in 6 children (that's 18 percent of all American children)-are living below the poverty line. They live in families which are, out of necessity, making difficult choices between food, health care, heat and rent. To bring attention to this national crisis, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has designated January as "Poverty in America Awareness Month."
