Living in California, we all know to use plenty of sunscreen with a high SPF level, but occasionally we are getting sunburned.
Here are some helpful hints.
* Apply a topical pain relieving spray that contains lidocaine to lessen discomfort.
* Use 100 % Aloe Vera gel (check expiration date )
* Moisturizers such as a Calamine lotion and chilled cold creams help retain moisture in the skin.
* Use over the counter pain reliever or anti-inflammatory pills if needed.
* Keep hydrated and avoid alcohol.
* Never use butter or petrolleum. These greasy products keep the heat in the skin and can cause infections.
* Never open or pop open blisters, keep area clean and if needed use a gauze compress.
Here are some handy home remedies:
* Green Tea works as an antinflamatory. Add green tea to a bath or drink 3 cups of green tea.
* Add Vinegar to a cold bath or sponge affected area with one part vinegar one part water.
* Apply a milk and bread compress . Soak slices of white brea in whole milk. The milk will cool and mositurize affected area.
And remember for the next time to cover up affected sun burn area and use plenty of sunscreen.
