| Changes to Medicare Supplements plan effective June 2010 |
 Effective June there will be changes to the Medicare Spplemental Plan.
* Plans, E,H,I and J will be no longer offered.
* New Plan M and Plan N are introduced, offering higher cost sharing with lower premiums.
* At home recovery and non Medicare covered preventive care will be removed.
* Hospice care is added to the basic (core) benefits

| Maternity Insurance in the Individual market is disappearing in CA |
 This year the health insurance companies have made it even more difficult to buy maternity coverage. Especially the self employed and women who work for a company that offers no group insurance are affected.
Kaiser Permanente is the only carrier in CA who offers affordable maternity coverage. Blue Shield and Anthem Blue Cross have reduced the plans and offering mostly now PPO plans with deductible of $ 5000.- to $ 7500. The other options are their HMO plans but the premium of the HMO plan is higher than any of the PPO Plan on the individual market. |
