July Webinar Schedule

Creating Learning Outcomes for Campus Activities

Presenter: Dr. Jimmie Cahagan, Director of Student Engagement, University of South Carolina

Date: Friday, July 15, 2011

Time: 2-3 pm EDT

Price: $50

Institutions of higher education face greater accountability today than ever before. Regardless of where you work on campus, there is a need to better assess what students are learning through their college experience. This webinar will discuss how to create and assess student-learning outcomes for campus activities and student life initiatives. Specific attention will be given to the cycle of assessment, defining student-learning outcomes, writing outcomes for specific events and activities and assessing these outcomes. Hone your skills in assessment and learn how to better communicate the impact of your work to a wide variety of stakeholders. To register, visit the NACA® website. If you have any questions about this webinar, email Paige Jeffcoat.

2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership

Registration is open for the 2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL). The MSL is a national research program examining how the college environment contributes to student leadership development. Participating campuses receive comprehensive reports outlining outcomes achievement across several leadership-related constructs, rates of participation in key experiences (clubs and organizations, community service, leadership programs) and how they influence learning, and comparisons across outcomes with peer institutions and national data. Participation in MSL is a great way to document student learning, assess student needs, and justify resources. Contact Dr. John Dugan at Loyola University Chicago if you have questions. More information is available at: www.leadershipstudy.net.

Upcoming NACA® Foundation Scholarship Deadlines

The NACA® Foundation offers numerous scholarships that are available to graduate students, undergraduate student leaders and associate members on an annual basis. Scholarship nominations are solicited each year. A complete listing of scholarships and criteria can be found here. For additional information, contact Paige Jeffcoat.

NACA Family Feels Impact of Tornadoes
Devastating tornadoes hitting the Midwest South earlier this year have left many members of the NACA family and their loved ones in need. In an effort to share information, NACA has set up a resource page on its website to help those institutions directly impacted by the storms, as well as their communities. All members of the NACA community are encouraged to contribute in any way they can to support this or other relief efforts.
