Upcoming Webinar

Creating Learning Outcomes for Campus Activities

Presenter: Dr. Jimmie Gahagan, Director of Student Engagement at the University of South Carolina

Date: Friday, July 15, 2011

Time: 2-3pm

Price: $50

Description: Institutions of higher education face greater accountability today than ever before.  Regardless of where you work on campus there is a need to better assess what students are learning through their college experience.  This webinar will discuss how to create and assess student learning outcomes for campus activities and student life initiatives.  Specific attention will be given to the cycle of assessment, defining student learning outcomes, writing outcomes for specific events and activities, and assessing these outcomes.  We encourage you to sign up for this webinar in order to hone your skills in assessment and learn how to better communicate the impact of your work to a wide variety of stakeholders.

2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership

Registration is still open for the 2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL). The MSL is a national research program examining how the college environment contributes to student leadership development. Participating campuses receive comprehensive reports outlining outcomes achievement across several leadership-related constructs, rates of participation in key experiences (clubs and organizations, community service, leadership programs) and how they influence learning, and comparisons across outcomes with peer institutions and national data. Participation in MSL is a great way to document student learning, assess student needs, and justify resources. Contact
Dr. John Dugan at Loyola University Chicago if you have questions. More information is available at: www.leadershipstudy.net.
