June Webinar Schedule

Re-imaging the Director--A New Framework for Administration

Presenter: Timothy Moore, Director of Student Activities & Student Activities Center, University of Louisville (KY)

Date: Tuesday, June 14

Time: 2-3 pm EST

Cost: $50

The new reality of directing a campus activities department calls for re-conceptualizing what we do and how we do it. It requires the ability to build an activities program brand inside and outside of the institution through innovation, collaboration and creating learning experiences for students. This webinar will discuss the new framework for leading campus activities.

Student Activities and Residence Life: Fulfill Your Programming Potential!

Presenters: Laura Flynn, Associate Director of Student Involvement, Merrimack College (MA); Sara Quagliaroli, Area Coordinator, Merrimack College

Date: Thursday, June 23, 2011

Time: 2-3 pm EST

Price: $50

Could your organization use more money or manpower? Learn how the student involvement and residence life departments on one small campus came together and shared their resources to improve the out-of-classroom experience for students. Development of first- and second-year transition programs will be examined, as well. To register, visit the NACA website. If you have any questions about this webinar, email Paige Jeffcoat.

Submit Educational Session Ideas for Upcoming NACA Events

Educational session submissions for the 2012 Mid Atlantic Festival and 2012 Northern Plains Regional Conference are now being accepted. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 4, 2011.

Interested in Volunteering with NACA?

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2012 NACA Regional Conference Program Committees, the 2013 NACA National Convention Program Committee and the 2012 NACA Institutes. There are many different opportunities for students, grad students and professional staff members. A full listing of positions, along with job descriptions, is available on the NACA website. If you have questions, contact Gordon Schell in the NACA Office.

2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership

Registration is open for the 2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL). The MSL is a national research program examining how the college environment contributes to student leadership development. Participating campuses receive comprehensive reports outlining outcomes achievement across several leadership-related constructs, rates of participation in key experiences (clubs and organizations, community service, leadership programs) and how they influence learning, and comparisons across outcomes with peer institutions and national data. Participation in MSL is a great way to document student learning, assess student needs, and justify resources. Contact Dr. John Dugan at Loyola University Chicago if you have questions. More information is available at: www.leadershipstudy.net.

Regional Conference Showcase Selection Committee

For those volunteering in NACA® Mid America, there is still time to apply for a spot on your 2011 Showcase Selection Committee. The Showcase Selection process involves reviewing audio/visual and printed materials submitted by NACA associate members and selecting showcases following discussion and deliberation. A broad view of campus activities and a strong ability to work through the decision-making process as a group member is essential. Apply today!

Upcoming NACA® Foundation Scholarship Deadlines

The NACA® Foundation offers numerous scholarships that are available to graduate students, undergraduate student leaders and associate members on an annual basis. Scholarship nominations are solicited each year. A complete listing of scholarships and criteria can be found here. For additional information, contact Paige Jeffcoat.

NACA Family Feels Impact of Tornadoes
Devastating tornadoes hitting the Midwest in recent weeks, along with a previous rash of deadly storms in the South, have left many members of the NACA family and their loved ones in need. In an effort to share information, NACA has set up a resource page on its website to help those institutions directly impacted by the storms, as well as their communities. All members of the NACA community are encouraged to contribute in any way they can to support this or other relief efforts.
