Educational Sessions, International Initiatives and YOU!

With the deadline for educational submissions fast approaching (see below), NACA also wants to spread the good word of the Association's international initiatives. With a year of work already invested in globalizing the Association, NACA's International Committee is ready to have a stronger presence on the Regional scene.

How can this happen as it relates to educational sessions? It's easy, innovative and fun!

Are you racking your brain for a different topic you can present at your regional conference? Do you want to present something you've done on the international scene that's unique and unlike other sessions? Do you have, or do you know someone who's had, students who've studied or worked overseas? If so, consider presenting about your international experiences to educate and inspire students to study, work or live abroad. Consider inviting someone from your study abroad or international affairs office to present with you, possibly with a student leader who has studied abroad. Or, do you and your programming board offer amazing programs with an international focus geared towards international, domestic and/or immigrant students encouraging global citizenship of your campus population?

Then, submit sessions based on your experiences to share with your region--all in the spirit of making the world smaller!

The International Committee is ready to help bring a worldly vibe to your region in collaboration with the experiences and knowledge of your staff and student delegates. It is ready to hear from you. Email International School Program Chair Dani Chang, International Programs Chair Shelby Harris or International Associate Program Coordinator Shelly Weiss for more information.

2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership

Registration is open for the 2012 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL). The MSL is a national research program examining how the college environment contributes to student leadership development. Participating campuses receive comprehensive reports outlining outcomes achievement across several leadership-related constructs, rates of participation in key experiences (clubs and organizations, community service, leadership programs) and how they influence learning, and comparisons across outcomes with peer institutions and national data. Participation in MSL is a great way to document student learning, assess student needs, and justify resources. Contact Dr. John Dugan at Loyola University Chicago if you have questions. More information is available at: www.leadershipstudy.net.
