Services-TaxIRS Won't Tax Personal Use of Employer-Provided Cell Phone Use

 

The IRS has announced in its recent Notice 2011-72, that it will not tax employees' personal use of their employer-provided cell phones. In other words, all usage is nontaxable as long as the employer provided the phone primarily for noncompensatory business reasons. Read more...

Prior to 2011, your investment broker was required to report to the IRS gross proceeds you received from the sale of any security. You in turn received a Form 1099-B each January from your broker, showing the gross proceeds reported to the IRS for your prior year security sales. Come January, everything is about to change.
