University of Arizona students and faculty and members of the public gathered at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health on December 2 to learn about health issues in the United States and around the world from two health experts: Kavita Patel, M.D., M.S.H.S., and David Rutstein, M.D., M.P.H. Carmona, M.D., M.P.H., FACS, 17th Surgeon General of the United States (2002-2006) moderated the discussion that included "globesity," preparedness for natural disasters and terrorism, and the relationship between health and national economies. First Class Completes CRI Life Enhancement Program in Sullivan County, MO Milan, MO
The first class of the Canyon Ranch Institute Life Enhancement Program (CRI LEP) in Sullivan County, MO, graduated in October. The group was comprised of city government representatives, schoolteachers, grocery store owners, hospital employees, self-employed farmers, and stay-at-home mothers. During the 12-week program, participants learned about increasing health literacy, improving nutrition and physical activity, and managing stress. Read More |

 El Rio Community Health Center and CRI to Develop CRI Life Enhancement Program in Tucson CRI and the El Rio Community Health Center are developing a Canyon Ranch Institute Life Enhancement Program (CRI LEP) in Tucson, AZ. El Rio is the fourth organization to collaborate with CRI on the development of a CRI LEP, which is a dynamic program that aims to transfer the best practices of Canyon Ranch to underserved communities to prevent, diagnose, and address chronic diseases through an integrative health model.

Call for Applications - Fellowship Program at Satcher Health Leadership Institute
The Health Policy Leadership Fellowship Program is offered by the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., 16th U.S. Surgeon General, is director of the Institute. Fellowships are for a 10-month period beginning in September and include a minimum $50,000 stipend. Learn More
