I'm pleased to announce our new partnership with the MGA Global Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports innovative, multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural programming for children, families, and communities. The MGA Global Foundation and Canyon Ranch Institute will collaborate to develop a Canyon Ranch Institute Life Enhancement Program (CRI LEP) that will be available to employees of McDonald's Restaurant of Oro Valley, AZ. The CRI LEP improves participants' health literacy, health-related behaviors, and overall health by using an integrative approach to health and wellness that incorporates physical activity, nutrition, behavior change, and stress management. MGA Global Foundation and CRI Partner to Develop CRI LEP for Employees of New McDonald's Restaurant

CRI Executive Director Jennifer Cabe, M.A., joined MGA Global Foundation Founders Gael Sylvia and Mark Pullen, dignitaries from the town of Oro Valley, representatives from McDonald's, and an audience of supporters and friends to announce a new CRI partnership focused on providing a CRI Life Enhancement Program (CRI LEP) for employees of the new McDonald's Restaurant in Oro Valley, AZ. The Pullen family is building the new McDonald's and included the announcement of the partnership with CRI at the groundbreaking for the restaurant. Developed with the expertise of Canyon Ranch staff and the CRI team, it complements the CRI LEP Program Guide, which is a reference tool and practical guide for participants to follow during and after their time in the CRI LEP.

Richard Izquierdo, M.D., founder of CRI partner organization Urban Health Plan, recently started the Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School in the South Bronx, New York. The school is the first career and technical education charter school in New York to prepare students for jobs in health care. "I congratulate him on fulfilling his dream to open a school dedicated to eliminating economic and health disparities," said CRI President Richard H. Carmona, M.D., M.P.H., FACS, and 17th Surgeon General of the United States (2002-2006).
