It's a bird...it's a plane... it's a ... shoe store??!! The house that stood between Saketumi and Burger King on Route 1 has been torn down and something big is underway. I first heard it was going to be a Panera, then I heard it would be a carwash, then finally a shoe store. Not sure that's a definitive answer so stay tuned!

We now have a Nathan's Famous in Rehoboth Beach near Seaside Thai on Rehoboth Avenue. Did you know their menu also includes Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips?  Nathan's began in 1916, and has had characters such as Al Capone, Jimmy Durante, and Cary Grant as regular customers. In fact, President Franklin Roosevelt served Nathan's Famous hot dogs to the King and Queen of England! This year the winner of their annual hotdog eating contest ate 54 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes... holy freakin' frankfurter!

Went with friends to check out the new JAM Bistro by Eden and it was awesome! I loved the edamame "guacamole"; also big hits at our table were the bacon wrapped meatloaf, the roasted baby beet salad, and the salmon (thanks Mark, Greer and Joe, the birthday boy). On Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth 226-JAMM

Continuing on Baltimore Avenue, the Camel's Hump finally sold after all these years! The new owner is looking for a tenant for the restaurant.

Was pleasantly surprised to find Conch Island both affordable and kid-friendly. My friends raved about the Conch chowder and the jerk chicken quesadilla which was huge and grilled to perfection. (thanks Jill, Kathy & Greer) On Rehoboth Avenue 226-WEST

GoodforYOU Market now has a cheese of the month club and cheese classes too! Check out their Grilled Cheese Contest online. 28841 Lewes-Georgetown Highway in Lewes 684-8330

Wings to Go offers a hot deal every Wednesday from 12-5 - boneless wings just 50 cents each - on First Street in Rehoboth

Bead Therapy moved into the former Gidgets Gadgets location on First Street, and Shirt Shotz moved into the space next door. Shirt Shotz looks like great fun - you insert your photo into a very fun background and they print it on a tee shirt. Gidgets Gadgets (now on Rehoboth Avenue) has the wildest things! Bought my friend some bacon flavored dental floss...LOL!

The Blue Sea Cafe plans to expand beyond their breakfast and lunch menu and will soon be open for dinner offering Mediterranean dishes like gyros, kebab, baba ganoush, falafel, hummus and more. On 2nd Street in Lewes.

Hello!

In case we haven't met, my name is Deb Griffin and I'm a RealtorŪ living in Lewes.  I've been here full time for four years, and I love living at the beach!  Every day I learn more about the area and its resources, so the Local Buzz was created as a way to share information with newer Sussex visitors and residents like myself.  Enjoy!

For real estate info, please visit my website: The Jetty Group. I donate a portion of my commissions to Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill shelter here in Sussex County.

The Kalmar Nyckel in Lewes
July 25 - August 14
The Kalmar Nyckel, the "Tall Ship of Delaware," is a recreation of a Dutch ship that brought the first European settlers to the Delaware Valley in 1638. The Kalmar Nyckel will offer public sails, pirate sails, and tours while in Lewes. It's incredible - I loved it!
