Topping Caring Communities presents
Celebrating Cultural Diversity
during the Winter Break
Wednesday, December 15th
6 - 7 pm, Topping Elementary Gym
Join Topping LINC Afterschool students for performances of songs and skits from different cultures: - Kwanzaa - an African-American observance rooted in African traditions and emphasizing the seven principles of living in community
- Hanukkah - the eight day Jewish festival also known as the festival of lights
- Las Posadas - a Latino/Latina re-enactment of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem
- Christmas - the Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem
- Al-Hijra - the Islamic New Year, celebrating Muhammad's emigration from Mecca to Medina
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments representing foods from our students' cultural backgrounds will be served after the performances. |
