Read and Romp 2009 A Success!
THANK YOU to everyone who supported, attended, volunteered at, and helped with Read and Romp 2009 - Because of your great support and efforts, we have $10,000 additional dollars to buy books for our ROR programs in SC. More than 250 children and their families joined us for the big day, and more than 75 volunteers shared their time to help make the event a success.
100% of the funds raised at Read and Romp are used to purchase books for Reach Out and Read programs in South Carolina. ROR-SC programs need more than 180,000 books each year to serve the children and families we serve. Read and Romp is an important part of that mission, and it continues to be a signature family literacy event for all to enjoy.

ROR-SC Receives Literacy Leaders Award
This fall, Reach Out and Read-SC was awarded the 2009 Literacy Leaders Award from the SC Center for Children's Books and Literacy - We are honored by this award, and were in esteemed company with the other award winners and literacy champions in attendance. We would like to thank the SC Center for Children's Books and Literacy for this great honor, and for being wonderful literacy partners and champions in SC. |
ROR and The WIGGLES!
On Saturday, November 7, 2009, Reach Out and Read-SC partnered with the most beloved family entertainment band in the world, The Wiggles! The fab four from down under were in Greenville, SC at the Bi-Lo Center for two new live shows. At each show, attendees were encouraged to bring books to help support Reach Out and Read.
Throughout the day, hundreds of families learned about Reach Out and Read and donated books to support ROR programs in Greenville County.

4 Easy Things You Can Do to Help ROR-SC this Holiday Season
As we prepare for the holiday festivities that we enjoy so much in this time of year, I want to challenge you to keep Reach Out and Read in your thoughts. There are many great opportunities throughout the season to celebrate with family and friends AND support your ROR program. Here are a few ideas:
1. Having a holiday party? Have your guests celebrate the season of giving by bringing a new book to support ROR to the party.
2. Instead of exchanging gifts with friends, why don't you all chip in together to make a donations to ROR-SC in honor of each friend?
3. Need to clean out some of your child's things before holiday gifts arrive? Donate gently used books to ROR-SC this season
4. Make a tax deductible contribution of $40 before the end of the calendar year to support a child through 5 years of the ROR program - Help a child, and help your taxes!
