"While this is not rocket science, these everyday, seemingly natural interactions don't come all that naturally - until this class. It has helped tremendously!"

Greetings!
Lately, I've had quite a few people coming to me for help in improving their love relationships. In our conversations, we always seem to come back to the question, "What makes a successful relationship? What's the picture of the ideal marriage or partnership?"
Let's start with the fundamentals:
First, know yourself. Know what's negotiable and what's not. Determine what's important to you based on your values, beliefs and purpose. Does your partner match your requirements?
Second, communicate. Listen for understanding. Stand in your partner's shoes to see the world from his/her perspective. Listening is a skill to practice; start with being willing, open and ready to understand.
Third, be responsible. Stop blaming and criticizing; take a look at your own behavior and see where you can make changes to support the relationship.
This just a beginning. Next month, we'll take a look at building trust. In the meantime, if you're serious about having more success in your relationship, start by asking yourself, "What are my values, beliefs, and purpose?" and "What are my requirements for an ideal marriage?" You're partner can do the same. Then, compare your responses. Are there areas of agreement? Disagreement? Elements easy to achieve? Difficulty to achieve?
This exercise offers you the opportunity to pause, take stock of where you are and where you'd like to be. Then, together make a plan to create your ideal marriage. Start small. Pick one small thing you can do to improve the relationship - a first step to a more successful and satisying relationship.
If you'd like my help in creating an enduring and fulfilling relationship, give me a call at 763-1888, ext. 17 or email me for a complimentary coaching session.
All the best,
Fran
