Grow Younger in 2010?
We've all heard that a glass of red wine a day can have healthy effects on our bodies. It's not just due to bringing down our stress levels by sheer relaxation, either. An agent called resveratrol which is found in the skin of dark fruits, especially grapes, has many anti-aging and disease-defeating qualities. Peanuts also supply resveratrol. Recent studies have demonstrated the following health benefits:
· Weakens pancreatic cancer cells · Heart Disease prevention · Effective replacement for Traditional HRT
(Hormone Replacement Therapy)
in Post Menopausal women · Breast Cancer prevention in Post Menopausal
women · Fatty Liver Disease prevention and treatment · Ovarian Cancer treatment · Diabetes treatment and prevention of
complications · Stroke damage prevention · Exercise endurance enhancement · General longevity and quality of life Resveratrol has been termed a "Fountain of Youth" quite aptly, as these outcomes are often related to disorders that occur later in life (okay, so the forties are still young). In a 2006 study, researchers from Harvard Medical School found that resveratrol improves the health of mice on a high-calorie diet by shifting the physiology of middle-aged mice on a high-calorie diet towards that of mice on a standard diet and significantly increases their survival. Resveratrol produced changes that create longer lifespan (15-60% in animal studies), such as increased insulin sensitivity and improved motor function.
A glass of red wine contains about 0.16 mg of resveratrol per fluid ounce. An optimum beneficial daily dose would contain 250-500 mg per day. Since drinking a thousand glasses a day may produce more ill effects than good, a supplement can supply you with a safer, yet stronger dose.
This article was inspired by the recent visit of a client who has been taking our resveratrol supplement. The beneficial effects were so outwardly apparent in her younger looking skin that we have decided to run a special on Solgar Resveratrol this month to help everyone start out the New Year on a path to their own Fountain of Youth and Health.
Please see our coupon below.
Hurry, though, this special ends January 31, 2010.

Baby Steps
For many people, the New Year gives a feeling of a fresh start-wiping the slate clean and making resolutions to improve ourselves in body, mind and spirit. We all know the typical resolutions made every January. Here go all the exercise ads... But what if you can't get out of that post-holiday funk and start exercising? It seems to be such a Catch 22 that exercise produces endorphins that produce higher spirits and stave off depression, but when we are depressed it is hard to get out and do much of anything. A good plan for those who find themselves in such a quandary is to not impose some huge new plan, but to start with just one brisk walk. Whether you begin with a walk to a nearby store, park, library, a friend's house or just around the block, that first baby step may be the best thing you do for yourself this year. Get that blood circulating and those endorphins pumping! Make it a resolution to walk somewhere each day to which you might normally drive. You will find it addictive behavior that is good for you. If you need extra help with shaking off being down in the dumps, Omega 3's have been shown to fight off depression as well. Come by Heights of Health and pick up an Omega 3 supplement for the "good fats" that boost circulatory, brain and nervous system health.
