LEARN YOUR BODY TYPE, "CELLLAR AGE" AND LOSE FAT
~Have you ever wondered why you gain weight on a diet while others are losing weight eating the same thing?
~Do you crave specific Foods?
~Do you tend to gain fat in certain areas?
~Are you interested in knowing your "cellular age," the integrity of your cell membranes? How to monitor your aging rate?
~Do you want to know what your metabolism is? How many calories you burn each day?
~Interested in your percentage of bodyfat?
You may want to schedule a consultation on our newest technology and have a Body Composition Assessment performed.
In this assessment, we will determine your unique body type and give you information to help you understand how to best support it through diet and lifestyle.
We will also measure your metabolism, body fat and hydration level (both intracellular and extracellular). Most importantly, we will be able to determine your Phase Angle, the measure of the integrity of your cell membranes, a remarkable indicator of your "cellular age."
So, don't hesitate to schedule your appointment for the BCA today! It will be well worth your while. | |

The Importance of Cleansing
Well, it's that time of year again, when we all start thinking about taking better care of ourselves. We all, most likely, have indulged in unhealthy food and libation over the holidays. Time to start fresh. Time to make some changes.
However, it's not just from food and drink that our bodies get overloaded with toxins. Toxins come from the air we breathe, the water we bathe in, and the endless bodycare products that touch our skins. In fact, for many of us, more toxins are absorbed through the skin that through the mouth. Think about what you apply to your skin during and right after a nice, hot, pore-opening shower. Is it truly non-toxic and natural? Does your body know what to do with these chemicals?
When we get pedicures and massages, do we really know what is being applied to our bodies? (Hint: take your own natural lotion and non-toxic nail polish to your next appointment.) To learn more ways you can clean up your act, join us for a great class in February - see the info below for details.
First and foremost, these toxins have to be filtered through the liver. Aside from detoxification of the blood, the liver has over 600 important functions, relating to the immune, digestive, circulatory and endocrine (hormonal) systems. It is an amazing organ. The more toxins it has to deal with, the harder it is for the liver to perform the other essential functions. Consequently, toxins end up being deposited in other tissues, especially fat. So, the more toxic you are the harder it is to get rid of excess fat. Fat (especially in the form of cellulite) can serve as a protective mechanism in the body. Toxins also create an environment for pathogens to thrive (i.e. yeast and parasites).
As our envirnonment has become more and more filled with these toxins, diseases and conditions such as asthma, auto-immune disorders, allergies, autism and cancer have been on the rise. So, in my mind, it would behoove us to not only avoid, but to cleanse and rid ourselves of as many toxins as reasonably possible. Aside from obvious disease, a toxic body can manifest as symptoms such as fatigue, foggy-thinking, irritability, sleep issues, low libido, skin problems, bad breath, constipation, body odor and allergies.
What a better way to start off the new year than to do a cleanse? We recommend starting off with a gentle, whole-body cleanse that lasts 10-14 days. A cleanse that focuses on the colon, liver, blood and kidneys is a great place to begin. The two that we recommend are very safe and effective, yet gentle enough that you can continue with your normal routine. While doing a cleanse, it is best to avoid fried foods, alcohol, sugary foods, heavy foods/sauces and processed foods. Focus on lean meats, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Remember to drink lots of pure water. Shoot for 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water per day. In fact, that should be our goal everyday.
A focused cleanse should be part of our lives, twice a year is what we usually recommend. Remember to join our class in February to learn more ways to reduce toxic exposure. |
| The Benefits of Thermography |
|
Prevention, Good Health
Digital thermal imaging, often referred to simply as Thermagraphy, is a screening process that detects differences in heat given off by the body. The amount of heat is determined through precise measurements of infrared frequency wavelengths. Having gained FDA approval in 1982, thermagraphy has become increasingly more accurate and useful.
Now, what might it be useful for? A thermogram can be useful in the detection of breast disease, possible thyroid dysfunction, irritable bowel disorders, hormonal imbalances, carotid artery issues, arteriosclerosis, and other inflammatory processes.
Thermography has wonderful advantages over other screening processes. No radiation or dyes are put into the body, it is totally non-invasive and painless. The body is never touched and there is no compression of the breasts - Whew!
Of greater significance, thermography detects a physiological/functional process instead of simply an anatomical process. Instead of just looking at organs or tissues, it focuses on processes occurring in the body that are initiating temperature changes. Hence, it may pick up high risk areas long before they become anatomical issues, not yet detectable by x-rays or MRIs in the early, pre-clinical stages.
In essence, this means that we may be able to practice prevention rather than just detection. By detecting an area of thermal abnormality, we can focus on possibly reversing those risk-associated changes.
With all of these exciting benefits, we are so excited to have Kathy Markham, CCT offering thermography at Heights of Health. Kathy is a Certified Clinical Thermographer with years of training and experience. She will be scheduling clients at the clinic one day a month. Her first date available at Heights of Health will be Friday, February 27.
Kathy is offering 3 screenings: a Breast Screening which includes 5 thermal images, a Women's/Men's Health Screening with 13 images, and a Full Body Screening with 32 images. The images are then evaluated by an experienced radiologist.
These screening are by appointment only and require you to fill out a questionnaire and make a deposit. For further information or to make an appointment please contact us. You can also visit Kathy's website at www.nutrans.net for more information on thermography. |
