Scrappy Greetings!
How can a day spent in creative sewing help you save time & money during all of 2010?  Try your hand at sewing your own greeting cards!  Use your fabric scraps & inexpensive, blank greeting cards to stretch your artistic skills while creating cards to celebrate the special occasions of every family member & friend this year.

Here's how to get started.  Make a list of all of the birthdays, graduations & other events that you would like to recognize during the year.  Include the names of the recipients & dates that the cards should be mailed along with everyone's addresses.

Now comes the fun part.  Cut a piece of background fabric slightly smaller than your first card.  Adhere the fabric to the card with 505 Temporary Spray Adhesive.  Next, choose a few fabric scraps & begin arranging them on the background fabric.  Think about all of the design options!  How about a small landscape, flowers or an abstract design?  Once you are satisfied with your arrangement, secure the scraps to the background fabric with more 505.  Thread your machine with some fancy thread & let the stitching begin!  Have a ball experimenting with decorative stitches and / or create free-motion designs with the BERNINA Stitch Regulator.  Add some ribbon, buttons & hot-fix crystals with the Easy Glitzer to make your card a real stand-out.  Create a card for everyone on your list plus a few extras for the unexpected occasion.

Next, add a personal note to the insides of the cards, address all of the envelopes, & write the mailing date where the postage stamp will be affixed.  Drop each of your pre-addressed cards into an accordion file separated by month.  Toss a handful of postage stamps into the file & you'll be set for the rest of the year!
