A few things we have to be thankful for... November marked the one year anniversary at Halcyon - a year filled with accolades including "Best New Restaurant" from Charlotte Magazine and Creative Loafing, being named one of Charlotte Magazine's Top 25 Restaurants and being featured in national publications such as Everyday with Rachael Ray, Garden & Gun, and The Week. We would also like to thank you for your continued support and votes for the upcoming James Beard Foundation Awards for Best New Restaurant and Best Chef, Southeast for chef Marc Jacksina.
In October we opened Fern, our new vegetarian restaurant in Plaza Midwood, which received glowing reviews from Charlotte Magazine and Creative Loafing. Fern sold out its first beer dinner in December and will be hosting a Valentine's Day Wine Dinner on Tuesday, February 14.
At our Community Café in Discovery Place, we helped celebrate the debut of the highly anticipated Mummies exhibit featuring a fun, new menu of nutritious and tasty wraps, crêpes and more. And we will be working with the museum in the coming year on even more color-full and healthful projects for our community. Discovery Place is a great venue to consider for your event needs in 2012!
At our Something Classic Cafés, Uptown newly began serving our delicious menu of hot sammies and coming soon, East Boulevard will offer top picks from Halcyon and Fern's carefully-curated wine lists to enjoy in the shop or to take home with one of our fresh entrees.
In 2011 we welcomed our new Catering Kitchen Team - Executive Chef Blake Hartwick and Kitchen Manager Aaron Dawson who have helped make your events a glowing success and given us a few favorites
like Blake's addicting Bourbon Balls.
We are proud to announce that Something Classic was one of three finalists for the 16th annual Small Business of the Year Award from Business North Carolina magazine and was recently named "Best Caterer" by UPTOWN magazine. Jill Marcus has also been recognized as one of the recipients of the Enterprising Women of the Year Award which she will gratefully accept at their international awards ceremony in Ft. Lauderdale in March 2012.
