Note from Kelly
Hello again my decorating friends,
So nice to finally be able to get outside! I get so excited about the warm weather, but then remind myself that I live in New England and it can change any minute. But it has been just lovely weather lately so I will not complain.

I was invited by Benjamin Moore to be part of their design and color expert team! It is now up and running and here is the link: Benjamin Moore Expert Forum. There is a question board where you can ask questions for color experts, contractors and designers. Great place to ask for free advice!
Also, if you have not had a chance to check out my design blog, I think you will find it helpful and entertaining if you like to decorate. Each week I talk about a new subject in depth with great eye- candy pictures. I have also changed the name of my blog which is now Restyling Home by Kelly. New posts updated weekly.
Under decorating tips this month, I explained a little about color forecasting and how colors are chosen year to year. Just some interesting facts to learn that you can show off to your friends and family about your color and decorating skills.
Another feature I have added below and on my website is Newsletter Archives in case you ever want to go back and read previous posts.
A very special Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mom's. I hope you have a happy day whatever you do.

I want to share a few great quotes about Mom:
It's not easy being a mother. If it were easy, fathers would do it. ~From the television show The Golden Girls
God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers. ~Jewish Proverb
A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. ~Tenneva JordanWhen you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
Any mother could perform the jobs of several air traffic controllers with ease. ~Lisa Alther
There's nothing like a mama-hug. ~Terri Guillemets |

Decorating Tips
Just a couple quick ideas for easy, beautiful, inexpensive decorating:
One of the hottest topics right now in design seems to be about color forecasting. There are actual color design experts that travel the world trying to predict what colors consumers will be interested in next.
The colors are always chosen by the consumer, they are just not aware they are purchasing and showing interest in specific colors heading towards certain trends. This is what the forecasters try to predict. A lot of factors are involved, from the economy, the seasons, what we liked last year and financial stability in the world for example. These colors usually show up in fashion, clothing and accessories first then begins to show up in fabrics, paint colors, rugs and accessories.
If you remember, at the beginning of the year, Pantone announced the color of the year for 2010- Turquoise.
I will admit I was pretty skeptical. That is not an everyday color. But then at the Oscars, there were quite a few blue and turquoise dresses. Now I am starting to see the color everywhere in home furnishings.

Blue is going to continue being a loved color, reminding us of the water and sky and new beginnings.
Green will be used more as a neutral; gray and brown continue as neutrals also.
Purple is still a 'hot' color, which I am so happy about! I love all shades.
Robert Allen apparently thinks so too.

Orange is a warm and welcoming, happy color that is being seen more and more.
Melon, tangerine and yellow mango is bright, cheerful and tend to improve appetite. Used in kitchens, breakfast nooks and dining rooms, orange shades can be very comfortable.
Here are a few pleasing orange combinations.
I especially want you to see this color combination with navy and orange. I predict navy/midnight blue will be the next color we will be seeing a lot of. It combines beautifully with so many colors. Remember, you heard it here first! Since I am running out of room here, I am going to write about navy in my next blog and will show you many color combinations.
A very special Happy Mother's Day to my Mom who always reads my newsletters and tells me what a great job I did. Love you Mom!! xoxoxoxo
Until next time-
Happy Decorating!
