For those of you that have good quality furniture that you are no longer using, contact an area donation center. Here in RI, there is a terrific assistance center, The RI Donation Center in Providence. Just call this number 401-831-5511, and they will schedule a time with you to pick up your donation. Very easy for you and so helpful to many others.
Thank you very much!

Happy Happy Spring!
A lot of redesigning going on over here at Interior Style ReDesign. First, my business name has changed to Kelly Bernier Designs. It is so much easier for people to remember. You can still get to website using old address or new kellybernierdesigns.com.
I was invited by Benjamin Moore to be part of their design and color expert team! that will be up and running soon online. I will send you the link as soon as I have more information.
Also, if you have not had a chance to check out my design blog, I think you will find it helpful and entertaining if you like to decorate. I have also changed the name of my blog which is now Restyling Home by Kelly. New posts updated weekly.
I am happy for my seamstress Wilma, but sad for us. She is relocating to Brazil with her husband and family where she is originally from. She is a wonderful person and could make magic with fabric. But then I was lucky enough to meet a new designer that specializes in window treatments. He was working in Miami, but has moved here to be with family. He has been working in Boston and Providence (which I thought expensive!!!) but not only is his work fantastic, his prices are really reasonable(really!) and he even takes the time to find great deals on fabric for the client. Better snap him up before he becomes famous and too expensive for us!
Another feature I have added below and on my website is Newsletter Archives in case you ever want to go back and read previous posts.
I hope your and your family have a very safe & Happy Easter!

It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

Decorating Tips
Just a couple quick ideas for easy, beautiful, inexpensive decorating:
Looking through any good decorating magazine, you'll see pairs everywhere: club chairs on either side of the fireplace, matching vases with flowers, matching lamps on each end of a console table and double bookcases to name a few types of pairs. This is by intentional design, using pairs in the decor to give the room a cohesive (interrelated, unified) look that makes the room work so well.
Pairs help to establish visual rhythm in a room. They are used in design for stability and balance.

A few ideas for using pairs in your decor:
- Hang matching sconces on either side of a painting or mirror.
- If you have two pieces of art, such as botanical prints or black and white photos that are the same size, create a pair by putting them in matching frames.
-
I have found the most pleasing look for a bedroom design is having symmetry on both sides of the bed. The matching lamps are what I believe is the significant accessory used that will give you that balanced, cohesive look. (For more on bedroom symmetry read Balance in the Bedroom.)
Try using two pairs of matching throw pillows on the sofa. I suggest one pair in a fabric that coordinate with the sofa, the other in a solid accent color, perhaps a color taken from your chairs.
So take a look around your home for pairs that have not been introduced or that may have been separated: chairs, tables, lamps, pieces of art, vases, candles, mirrors, etc.
Pairs will not only add balance and cohesion to your room, they will contribute to the overall order of the space, which will make you feel more relaxed and comfortable.
Until next time-
Happy Decorating!
