Note from Kelly

Hello again everyone!  Hope all is well and you are enjoying the warmer weather.  It was so nice seeing you at the Southern New England Women's Expo at the Crowne Plaza.  It was a productive day for meeting new clients and talking about decorating and color all day! I gave a seminar on choosing paint colors and it was so nice to receive all of the positive feedback from the attendees.  I enjoyed visiting booths and shopping for jewelry, sipping wine and sharing ideas with other business owners.
The summer is a great time for taking your indoor decorating skills and using them outdoors.  Make seating areas for entertaining, put candles out to sit outside at night, put favorite flowers around you, enjoy a relaxing fountain nearby.  Enjoy the weather- get together with friends, read a good book and just soak up the sun- it does not last for very long!

Until next time-Happy Decorating!

Decorating Tips
Just a couple quick ideas for easy, beautiful, inexpensive decorating:
  • When considering choosing a paint color, remember yellow, orange and red are very warm colors and will advance toward you.  They will make objects appear closer that they are in reality.  They are good for very large rooms where you want to make the room more intimate.
  • Violet, blue and green are generally cool colors and will do just the opposite.  The will recede form you and make it look as if the walls are further away than they really are.  These are good choices in very small rooms, like bathrooms, where you want the room to appear larger that it actually is.
  •  Great idea from BHG- Use a window box to provide extra storage in bathroom.  They are easy to find and easy to paint to coordinate with your bathroom.  If you have a window in the bathroom, mount box right underneath or just attach to wall.  Then just roll up towels and tuck inside.  Try to use colorful hand towels and washcloths to add spice to room.

Chocolate, running shoes, wine are hot products in slow economy

Associated Press: It's not all gloom and doom in the U.S. economy.  Some products are bucking the recession and flying off store shelves.
Sales of chocolate and running shoes are up.  Wine drinkers haven't stopped sipping, they just seem to be choosing cheaper vintages.
Gold coins are selling like hot cakes.  So are gardening seeds.  Tanning products are piling up in shopping carts; maybe more people are finding color in a bottle than from sun-worshiping on a faraway beach.
Strong sales of Spam, Dinty Moore stew and chili helped Hormel Foods Corp. post a 6 percent increase in first quarter sales.
Consumers have trimmed household budgets and postponed buying cars, major appliances and other big ticket items.  Yet they are still willing to shell out for small indulgences and goods that make life more comfortable at home, where they are spending more time.   More.....
