Happiness Now!
I am all about inspiration. Inspiration is something that has the potential to influence you to think or act differently. It can be subtle or significant. Inspiration is a beautiful thing because it is a catalyst to change. Just saying the word sounds like something needs to happen. It is a word of power. Say it with me, inspiration. Ok, now that you said it out loud and gave it life, something is going to change. Something needs to change. Let it.
The Fourth of July, Independence Day, is this month. What would happen if you were inspired to take the concept of independence to the next level? How about if you took the words from the Declaration of Independence and applied them to create a personal independence month setting the foundation for happiness? A stretch? I don't think so. Read on.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
What would you declare were your personal rights for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? What would you need to ensure you lived fully and happy? How about if you took it serious enough to say you had the right to live fully and happy?
Humor me. Take out a pen (or quill if you prefer) and a piece of paper and write across the top, 'This will make me really, really happy...' Now, just start writing all the things you can think of without judgment or editing. Include everything big and small. Have some fun with it. Keep writing until you can't think of anything else.
When you are done, review your list to see what is there. Any surprises? What can you act on this month? What inspires you to explore it more? What jumps out as a quick hit that if you did it now, it could significantly improve your life? Is there something on the list you need to stop doing in order to be happy? It is a simple exercise, but one that can be just what you need to inspire you to make a change for the better.
Be inspired this month and declare your independence from non-fulfillment. Make the choices you need to make you happy. You have the right, exercise it!
