Find Your Pow!
There are studies that indicate that less than a quarter of New Year's resolutions are achieved. I can believe it. That would be depressing if we were dealing with 'resolutions'. Au contraire! Last month, we talked about taking supported action. We are working with something far more powerful than making empty promises. We are talking about a revolution, a self-care revolution! No clandestine half promise you made sitting on a couch with chips watching the fitness channel. I am talking about a commitment to YOU, for YOU and made by YOU.
One thing I am committed to is making my goals compelling. Compelling means that if I achieve the goals, it will make such a powerful and significant improvement in the quality of my life, I would be insane not to do it. The big POW it would make would put me in a far better place than I am today. That is what I am talking about.
What is your POW? What POW is so compelling that you are willing to make the changes necessary to achieve it? If you close your eyes and visualize your best life, what would it look like? How would you feel if you were living it? If it were real at this very moment, would you be happy? Can you see it? That is your POW. The truth is, time is time. We all have the same 365 days to play with this year. The choices made day to day will determine what December 31, 2010 will look like. Plan for the POW and come out swinging!
I am by no means underestimating or minimizing how difficult change can be. I know it is hard. What helps is surrounding yourself with others who have similar goals and provide you with the support and encouragement you need to stay focused on your POW. The folks that help you maintain focus on your vision and help you see it through the tough times, should be in your inner circle. Shake off the takers and spend your time in the company of fire starters, joy makers and spirit lifters! You need to be in the company of people who speak of what you can do, not what you can't do.
I am fired up for what is possible! Get fired up with me. Join me in the self-care revolution called YOU!
