Online Request Form Results are in!
Thanks for helping me with this.
Your response to my request was overwhelming. I was surprised by the results. Here is how I tallied things up. If you voted that something was your first choice I assigned that a value of 3 points. If you voted that something was your second choice I assigned 2 points to to that choice. And I assigned 1 point to your third choice. I did this for both the day of the week and the time of the day.
I expected that meny people would say that they preferred class in the afternoon on weekend days. I could not have been more wrong. Almost no one wanted to come to class on weekends. The main choices for days of the week were, in this order, Tuesday, Monday, and Wednesday. The choices for time of day were, in this order, Evenings, Afternoons, and Mornings.
So that is what I will be doing. Most classes will be scheduled during those times and days. Thanks again for your help on this.

Australian/European Classes Coming
I am planning to have classes in July that are timed to coordinate with times suited for students located in time zone GMT 00:00 (London) and time zone GMT 14:00 (Sydney Australia) during their evening hours. If you are located in the United States and wish to join me at 2:00 p.m. EDT (GMT -05:00) when I teach classes for Europe or, better yet, at 5:00 a.m. EDT (GMT -05:00) when our Australian friends join me for class you are welcome to do so. So if you are in either of these two areas and want me to schedule a class, please send me an email by clicking here and make your preference for class known.
Online Class Offerings for 3D and 4D
I am putting together a description of my class offerings now that will contain more detailed information. These descriptions will be provided in another email in the near future. However, here is a short description of what I intend to cover. Each of the following courses will be 6 hours long and will be taught in 3 2-hour segments that will occur on the same day of the week at the same time for 3 consecutive weeks. Each of the following courses will cost $60.00 USD. Payments for all classes will be handled through PayPal.
- Using 4D Embroidery Extra - this class will cover most of my 4D Embroidery Basics book.
- Using 4D Design Ehancer - this class will cover most of my 4D Design Enhancer book.
- Using 4D Design Creator - this class will cover most of my 4D Design Creator Basics book.
- Using 4D Family Portrait - this class will cover most of my 4D Family Portrait Basics book.
I am also putting together a lesson plan for additional classes that will cover 4D Fabric Decorator, 4D Cross Stitcher, and 4D Sketch. Because I do not have a book available to cover these modules, I am thinking that I might have to make these classes 8 hours long (in 4 2-hour sessions over 4 weeks) so that you will have time to take notes. The cost of these courses will also be $60.00 USD.
3D Classes
I have not forgotten my readers who are using their 3D software. If there is a demand for 3D-based classes, I am ready, willing, and able to teach those classes as well. The classes will each cover one of my different books on the 3D software. They will be identical in length and cost as the 4D classes described above. They will be:
- Using 3D Embroidery Studio - this class will cover most of my Essentials of 3D Embroidery Studio book.
- Advanced topics in 3D Embroidery Studio - this class will cover most of my 3D Embroidery Studio Unleashed book,
- Using 3D Digitizing - this class will cover most of my Basic Digitizing book.
I will, if you ask for it, cover any of the other 3D modules.
Many people have asked me to cover more advanced topics and techniques for some of the modules. I am open to suggestions for this type of course. If you have any ideas about what you would like to have covered in such a class, then please write up your requests and send them to me in an email by clicking here.

| New Digitizing 4 Video Available
Digitizing. It is one of the most mysterious, feared, and yet desired thing to do with your embroidery software. Many people tell me that they are afraid to try to digitize. They say that they don't understand the process and the whole idea of even trying seems like a task that is just too big to ever take on.
I'm here to tell you that nothing could be further from the truth. Once you watch the two videos I created for this month, I hope that you can begin to understand that you too can create your own designs IF you learn and follow a few simple steps.
Keep in mind, that I can only show you the very basics of the process in these short videos. I hope that once you see what needs to be done and then try it yourself, then you will be willing to explore the tools available in your software to create more complex designs. That being said, let me tell you what is in each of the following videos. Just click on the title of the video to view it.
Digitizing 1 - will explain how to draw a simple graphic in your 4D Design Creator software and then create asimple design from that graphic.
Digitizing 2 - you learn how to save the simple design we made in the first lesson on your hard drive in both a stitchable format as well as an editable format known as a CAN file.
Digitizing 3 - you learn how to plan for the placement of your stitch objects and learn a couple of editing tricks to improve your designs.
Digitizing 4 - you learn how to plan for the placement of your stitch objects and learn a couple of editing tricks to improve your designs.
If you like these videos, let me know and I will continue the series for a few more installments. The fact of the matter is that the process of creating new designs with your software can become complex as you use the additional tools that I would have to create about 200 of these short videos to cover everything. And, in fact, I have covered most of the more complex topics in my book 4D Design Creator Basics which is available from your local authorized Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff dealers.
If you do not have a broadband connection and still have questions about this process, please feel free to contact me through my web site email links with your specific questions about this process.
Please take a moment and look at this presentation and then, if you have the time, let me know what you think about it. Was it too long, too short, or just right? And, most importantly, do you want to see more videos? If you have a question that you would like answered with a video, then click here to send me an email.

Free Downloads
All of our 3D books contained a chapter on computer skills. After writing our first 4D book, I decided to eliminate that material from all future books and make it available to everyone as a free download on my web site. Recently, I redesigned my web page and the old address shown in my earlier books as the location for these files changed. I corrected that reference on the new web site and created a new location for these files.
If you want to see and/or download these files, just click on this link and you'll find these files.

Closeout of remaining 3D Books
When I release my new books in July, that will be creating a storage space problem for me. I still have 500 copies of my first book Essentials of 3D Embroidery Studio and almost 400 copies of Basic Digitizing. Both of these books were written for and aimed at owners of the 3D Embroidery System software, If you have the 4D Embroidery System software, then you do not need either of these books. The material covered in these books is now covered by 4D Embroidery Basics and 4D Design Creator Basics respectively. But if you are planning to continue to use your 3D software and you want a copy of any of these books, then now is the time to get them. I have been offering all three copies of my 3D books (Essentials of 3D Embroidery Studio, Basic Digitizing, and, on CD ROM only, 3D Embroidery Studio Unleashed) in a package deal for $40.00 (which includes free shipping via U.S. Priority Mail or Global Priority Mail if you are located outside of the Continental United States). But now, through June 30, 2009, I am reducing the price to $30.00. After June 30, 2009 these books will no longer be available in print.

What's Coming In May? I'll begin a new series of videos to cover many of the various dialogs that pop up when you use your software. e.g. How to use the Color Selection dialog, How to use the Save As dialog, and so on. If you have any topics that you would like to see covered in this newsletter, in a short video, or on my web site, then send me your request in an email by clicking here. Tell me in your email if it's OK for me to give you credit for the topic and/or question and I will do so in a later video. |
