We are excited to work in partnership with the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation for the Urban Arts Outdoors - an open air gallery on the grounds of the new Columbus Commons park. We'll have student and alumni artwork on display and for sale at our booths. 

Urban Arts Outdoors will be a part of the weekly Lunch on the Lawn at the park which will include a farmers market, live music coordinated by CAPA, and a plethora of food trucks. 

OSU Department of Design Spring Exhibition Reception

Celebrate the exhibition with the students and advisors behind the senior theses of the Ohio State University Department of Design. Guests can engage with research projects from students working in Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communication Design. Free and open to all. Light refreshments will be provided.

Looking for a new way to escape on your lunch hour? Join us each month to discuss the wonderful world of short films. At this monthly short film forum, you will be able to watch new works, discover classics, see local productions, experience international masterpieces and learn how to access this fascinating medium of film. Films will be 30 minutes or less in length, and an informal discussion will follow.

Legendary guitarist Bill Orcutt will be making a rare stop in Central Ohio for this month's Marotta Hour. Orcutt uses acoustic guitar and combines delta blues, ragtime syncopation and no wave skronk in a wholly original approach to the instrument.

Marotta Hour is an electro-acoustic music series featuring unexpected sounds from free jazz to electronic to free-form improvisation. Come hear some of the most cutting-edge musicians and composers from Columbus and beyond. Free and open to all. Donations accepted.  

Create intricate patterns with yarn at this edition of Art Explorations, a monthly family program designed to engage youth (recommended for ages 4 to 8) and families on a different topic each month. Inspired by Native American decorated gourds, participants will explore fun textures and patterns while covering plastic bottles with yarn and beads.

Join the artists and curators in celebrating this year's Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Projects from the Department of Art at The Ohio State University. Make a night of it! Stop by Hopkins Hall Gallery for a reception from 4-6pm, then continue the evening downtown at the Space from 6-8pm. Free and open to all. Light refreshments will be provided.

Join us each Saturday this June to learn about digital video recording.  At this workshop, we will be screening short films. Choices in sound, location, lighting, digital manipulation and other considerations can transform recordings from a youtube video to a work of art.

The Art in the House exhibition displays an eclectic array of artwork produced by children participating in the Greater Columbus Arts Council's Art in the House program. Using the Frank Museum of Otterbein College's Ceremonial Objects & West African Artifacts exhibition as a point of inspiration, the young artists worked with the support of four master teaching artists to create works of art that are directly influenced by cultural objects from around the world.

The Ohio State University's Department of Art Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Projects Exhibition presents the work of graduating art majors working in a wide range of media and approaches. The projects reveal ambitious bodies of work developed during their course of study in areas such as art and technology, ceramics, glass, painting and drawing, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

This exhibition is sponsored by the Department of Art and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Every year the Department of Design hosts an exhibition featuring the senior theses of the undergraduates from each of the three programs: Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communication Design. This exhibition is the culmination of the students' design experience at The Ohio State University.  

 
The Accessible Expressions Ohio visual art exhibit and tour began in 1996. This program provides professional development opportunities for artists to create, exhibit and sell their art. Additionally the exhibition raises awareness of all abilities by presenting art by people with disabilities in inclusive settings. The OSU Urban Arts Space is proud to be one stop on the statewide tour in 2011.   

VSA Ohio is a statewide service organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, creatively and inclusively, through the arts. VSAO is an affiliate of the international network, VSA, and presents programming in education, professional development, access, and outreach.

 
The unique spirit of southeastern Ohio-as shaped by its geography, history and people-will emanate from this exhibition, juried and brought to the OSU Urban Arts Space by Majestic Galleries. With an open call for entries from artists of southeastern Ohio, this exhibition will bring to Columbus works from a region that is rich with character and artistry.

Majestic Galleries is an artist cooperative based in Nelsonville, Ohio.

City Center Gallery at the OSU Urban Arts Space is an opportunity for local emerging artists to display their art and launch their careers.  One proposal per month will be given a grant of up to $500 and use of the corridor space at the entrance of the OSU Urban Arts Space.

By providing an exhibition space and funding, City Center hopes to foster the development of the independent, creative and innovative community in Columbus, Ohio.
