Artist Talk: DonCee
|  Thursday, December 9th 6 to 7pm City Center Gallery invites you to attend its first monthly artist talk with Fabricated Art artist Don 'DonCee' Coulter. DonCee discusses his past experiences as an artist and what led him to work primarily with fabric. You will learn how the artist creates his intricate works of art as he demonstrates his process through the documentation of his latest piece.
Free and open to all.

Pleiades Foundation Public Meeting

Learn skills that will lead you to higher degrees of achievement. Guests will discuss resources that can lead to financial and social success, and leave the meeting knowing how to empower and promote growth within themselves. Free and open to all.
The Pleiades Foundation encourages healthy learning and offers a platform for discourse among attendants. The recently-founded grassroots organization offers alternatives to crime in order to cultivate a more productive generation of young adults.

Art Explorations: Points-of-View
| Saturday, December 11th 1 to 2:30pm
Resident-artist Ruth Smith teaches young artists the basics of visual perspective through the art currently on display in the State of the MFA exhibition.
Using the artwork in State of the MFA, participants will explore various points-of-view through the viewfinder of a camera and take digital photographs of the art on display to create a photo collage. In addition, they will be using their new knowledge of perspective to draw a composition that articulates a story. Free and open to all.
Art Explorations is a monthly family program designed to engage youth (recommended for ages 4 to 8) and families on a different topic each month. Thursday, December 16th, 7 to 8pm Marotta Hour: Adam Smith This month's Marotta Hour features multi-instrumentalist and composer Adam "Smitty" Smith. Smith will perform a solo set using his modified 8-track and reel-to-reel tapes as well as Moog and ARP analog synthesizers. Free and open to all. Donations accepted.
Friday, December 17th, 3 to 4pm Artist Talk and Demonstration with Emily Moorhead Multimedia artist, Emily Moorhead will be maintaining her ephemeral work Deconstructing Polarities 2 in the Time-Sensitive exhibition. Using the installation of new ice as a platform for engagement, the artist will answer questions and welcome conversations about the work. Free and open to all.

ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists presents Time-Sensitive, an exhibition that features artwork exploring the idea of the ephemeral. Ephemeral artworks fade, disappear, or simply "end" due to the materials or time that they inhabit. The artworks in Time-Sensitive explore the impermanent and the transitory, as well as disintegration and decay. Juried by Ola Ståhl.

City Center Presents: Fabricated Art CLOSES NEXT WEEK Tuesday, November 16th through Tuesday, December 14th
| City Center presents Fabricated Art, a collection of fabric-based pieces composed by Don 'DonCee' Coulter.
Using objects such as denim jeans, leather jackets and aluminum pans, DonCee manipulates common materials to create lush landscapes and capture the environment of the Jazz movement. DonCee's environmentally-friendly pieces illustrate creative reuse of materials while also touching on past cultural movements, bringing them to the forefront of the gallery.

City Center at the OSU Urban Arts Space
| Call for entries from independent emerging artists:
City Center at the OSU Urban Arts Space is an opportunity for local emerging artists to display their art and launch their careers. One proposal per month will be given a grant of up to $500 and use of the corridor space at the entrance of the OSU Urban Arts Space.
By providing an exhibition space and funding, City Center hopes to foster the development of the independent, creative and innovative community in Columbus, Ohio.
