Apparition/The Styrofoam Symphony

Friday, August 20th through Friday, September 17th 2010

e.f. hebner, seen
This exhibition showcases two City Center proposals that each expose the effects of human activities.

The Styrofoam Symphony is a sound installation with compositions inspired by the alarming statistics of Styrofoam production, using Styrofoam as the medium and conceptual drive to bring about issues such as mass consumption, the environment, and public naivety.

Using ambiguity to expose the limitations of human perception as an informative tool, Apparition showcases abstract graphite drawings and manipulated digital imagery, often through pixilation and blurring, that challenges the viewer's perception.

The ViEW project pairs an artist with a veteran to create an original piece based on that veteran's experience during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The project includes more than twenty veteran and artist pairs working together to create a piece of artwork.
