Jacob Wick, Swarm

JacobWickThursday, June 24th
6 to 8pm

Join  the OSU Urban Arts  Space on Thursday, June  24th for a performance of Swarm by Brooklyn-based trumpet player, composer, and improviser Jacob Wick. Wick, a native of Chicago, has performed, exhibited, and taught around the world. A fiercely smart improviser (Philadelphia Weekly), Wick exploits his instruments' boundaries. With Swarm, he concentrates on breaking the instrument down to its constituent parts: air, metal, spit, and song. Swarm challenges conventional notions of what constitutes musical performance.

Also performing solo and as a duo with Jacob Wick is Columbus-based avant-garde percussionist Ben Bennett.  Ben Bennett has performed all over the United States as well as in Japan. Using percussion membranes, hand built instruments, and found objects, his performances are thought provoking and often times absurd. For more information check out Jacob's website: http://www.jacobwick.info/
