Marotta Hour: Rocco Di Pietro

Thursday, June 17th 7 to 8pm
At this month's Marotta Hour, Columbus composer Rocco Di Pietro presents his piece Body Trap.
The piece explores the interconnections between music and physical
healing, featuring acupuncturist Dr. Linda Chun along with an ensemble
of live musicians. It premiered in 2009 by the Wired Sound ensemble
with Chris Chafe, Pauline Oliveros, and Chryssie Nanou, at Stanford
University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics where
Di Pietro was a visiting artist.
Free and open to all. Donations accepted.

High School Juried Exhibition Reception

Join us in celebrating the work of the artists selected to be in the 2010 High School Juried Exhibition.
Exhibition Date: June 18th, 11am to 6pm
The OSU Urban Arts Space features the work of high school students working
in a range of mediums and approaches. Through this one-day juried
exhibition, high school students learn the installation process first
hand as well as showcase their art in a professional environment.

City Center at the OSU Urban Arts Space

Call for entries from local emerging artists:
City Center at the OSU Urban Arts Space is an opportunity for local
emerging artists to display their art and launch their careers. One
proposal per month will be given a $500 grant, and use of the corridor space at
the entrance of the OSU Urban Arts Space.
By providing an exhibition
space and funding, City Center hopes to
foster the development of the independent, creative, and innovative community in Columbus, Ohio.

Thursday, June 24th, 6 to 8pm Jacob Wick, Swarm Don't miss this
performance of Swarm by Brooklyn-based trumpet player, composer, and
improviser Jacob Wick. Wick, a native of Chicago, has performed, exhibited, and taught around the world. Swarm challenges conventional notions of what constitutes musical performance.
Thursday, July 1st, 6 to 8pm Who Does She Think She Is? - Film Screening Join the OSU Urban Arts Space for a screening of Who Does She Think She Is?, directed by Academy Award-winning producer Pamela Tanner Boll of Born into Brothels. The film examines the mothering versus working choice faced by American women artists. The screening will be followed by a question/answer session with Janis Wunderlich, an artist featured in the film.
Tuesday, July 6th, 2 to 3pm Rooftop Garden Tour Guests will get an inside look at our current exhibitions
and learn about the many green aspects of our organization. Then,
complete the tour with a trip up to the beautiful rooftop gardens with Lazarus Building Manager, Robert Turrin. Please RSVP to dance.2@buckeyemail.osu.edu, space is limited.

Charles A. Csuri: Beyond Boundaries, 1963-present

See the critically acclaimed artwork of Charles A. Csuri, an artist who
brilliantly utilizes cutting-edge technology, for the first time in
Ohio at the OSU Urban Arts Space. This is an extensive retrospective exhibition, celebrating the life and work
of Charles A. Csuri, Emeritus Professor at the Ohio State University. This exhibition, curated by Janice M. Glowski, Ph.D., examines and
historically contextualizes over 85 of Csuri's computer artworks from
1963 to 2010.
