Rooftop Garden Tour

 Tuesday, May 18th
2 to 3pm
Our monthly tours of the Lazarus Building rooftop gardens are back. We
will begin the tour at the OSU Urban Arts Space where guests will get
an inside look at our current exhibitions and learn about the many
green aspects of our organization. Then complete the tour with a trip
up to the beautiful rooftop gardens with the Lazarus Building Manager,
Robert Turrin.

Transient Music Series
|
Wednesday, May 19th 2 to 4pm Witness the kickoff of the Transient Music Series, presented by artist and musician John Also Bennett.
This session features three performances of contemporary, underground American music. Sacred
Harp (Daniel Bachman of Fredericksburg, VA) plays nostalgic,
folk-influenced music using the acoustic guitar and sitar. Also
performing is Telegraph: Solar Future, a project of Bret Rushia, also
of Virginia.

Marotta Hour: Marina Peterson
|
Thursday, May 20th
7 to 8pm
This month's Marotta hour features cellist Marina Peterson, performing
solo with a pool of improvisers including Ryan Jewell on drums, Mike
Shiflet on electronics, and Larry Marotta on guitar. Marina Peterson
has performed in the United States and Europe, working with composers
and musicians including Luc Ferrari and Rahzel.
Free and open to all. Donations accepted.
This series is part of our after-work programming offered Thursday evenings. Before the show, stop by Tip Top Kitchen and Cocktails and ask for the Urban Artists' Special: It's very special indeed and it's only $3.

City Center at the OSU Urban Arts Space
|
 Call for entries from local emerging artists:
City Center at the OSU Urban Arts Space is an opportunity for local
emerging artists to display their art and launch their careers. One
proposal per month will be given a $500 grant, and use of the corridor space at
the entrance of the OSU Urban Arts Space.
By providing an exhibition
space and funding, City Center hopes to
foster the development of the independent, creative, and
forward-thinking community in Columbus, Ohio.

the OSU Urban Arts Space in collaboration with the OSU Design
Department for a one-day workshop that expands creative design thinking. Through a series of hands-on, MacGyver-like activities, students will learn to think outside of the box.

For the first time, the Space plays host to some of the most epic Rock

2010 Masters of Fine Arts Exhibition:
Me and You and Everyone We Know
CLOSES THIS WEEK April 21st through May 20th, 2010

This annual exhibition is an opportunity to sample an array of current
directions in contemporary art, fresh from the studios of 27 practicing
professional artists who are completing MFA degrees in the Department
of Art at The Ohio State University.
The participating artists work in
painting and drawing, performance, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking,
video, sound, new media, and varied combinations of these
possibilities. They have already exhibited in many locales from across
the United States and Canada, as well as in spots as distant as Korea,
China, and Argentina. See what they bring to this diverse and dynamic
presentation at the OSU Urban Arts Space.
Cosponsored by the Department of Art and Colleges of the Arts
and Humanities; funded by a grant from the Efroymson Family Fund, a
CICF Fund, and supported by the John Fergus Family Fund.

2010 Arts Scholars Juried Exhibition
February 23rd through June 12th, 2010

The 2010 Arts Scholars Juried Exhibition features work from
high-achieving students in the Arts from all years of study who share a
joint interest in the Arts, including music, visual arts, design,
dance, and theatre. Students major in many areas across campus,
including many non-Arts majors.
Giving students an opportunity to experience the jurying
process and the hanging and promoting of a professional exhibit, this show has traveled, over the past four years, from campus to the
Short North to downtown.
