Marotta Hour: Avante Garde Silent Film Scores
|
Thursday, April 15th 7 to 8pm This month we feature a world premiere of two avant-garde silent film
scores by Columbus punk rock legend, Sue Harshe (Scrawl, Lootsville)
and your friendly series curator, Larry Marotta.
Marrotta's score poses as a soundtrack for Alberto Cavalcanti's film, Rien que les heures (1926). An early employer of complex special effects, Cavalcanti's tale of the streets involves a prostitute, a thief, and an old woman. Harshe's score references The Tell-Tale Heart (1928). As an
expressionistic take on Edgar Allen Poe's classic story, the 20-minute
film borrows heavily from the imagery of Weine's 1919 horror classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
This series is part of our after-work programing offered Thursday evenings. Before or after the show stop by Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails and ask for the Urban Artists' Special: It's very special indeed and it's only $3.
