On View f BIGG: Breakthrough Ideas in Global Glass July 10th-October 10th
|
BIGG: Breakthrough Ideas in Global Glass is a dynamic collaboration among The Ohio State University Department of Art's Glass Program, OSU Urban Arts Space and Hawk Galleries. This exhibition is sponsored by Steuben Glass.
Together we will discover and introduce to the public a select group of artists with a conceptual and working engagement in glass. These artists will have completed their formal training in art beyond the baccalaureate (MFA or equivalent) since the beginning of the new millennium. This collaboration demonstrates a commitment to advancing new and innovative glass art worldwide. Through an international juried selection process and critical writing about work in the field, we intend to expand the discourse about glass art globally.
The exhibition will be presented at the OSU Urban Arts Space and Hawk Galleries in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Select works from the BIGG exhibition will travel to SOFA Chicago 2009 on exhibit November 5th through the 8th.

E.F. Hebner | excerpts...2009 July 10th-October 10th Reception: September 24th, 7 to 9pm
|
E.F. Hebner, Professor Emeritus, creates paintings steeped heavily in a personal history of design, painting and performance collaboration. His work thrives in nimbly balanced color and daring, energetic composition. This exhibition presents excerpts from 50 years of art making.
Sometime within the last fifty years, my marks, spills, splatters,
smears, erasures, lucky color choices and precise edges have taken form
as drawing, print, collage, transfer or painting. occasionally they
look, to me, keepable, even exhibitable. shown here as "excerpts" are a
few of them. i'm not always sure how far "too far" to go is. - E.F. Hebner
