Attention local musicians!  Are you interested in finding out how to best set up a home studio?  Join the C-bus Sound Project of the OSU Urban Arts Space Idea Lab program as they host Mark Bendig, engineer and music technologist, on Thursday evening for an interactive workshop on creating and working in your own home studio.  Mark has been writing and recording music since 1969 and is sure to provide helpful tips for anyone looking to get started or continue building their studios at home.

Time Change: Storytelling Across the Arts

As part of our Idea Lab program we are hosting a special evening of Storytelling Across the Arts, an interdisciplinary conversation between the arts with a focus on narrative.

Storytelling Across the Arts has paired writers from the MFA program in creative writing at OSU with artists from campus and the community at large.  The teams are charged with creating a new, collaborative work together, and exploring the challenges and rewards of the collaborative process.

Tonight we showcase artist collaborators and their work at the OSU Urban Arts Space.  Installations will be on display, and artists will be available to discuss the work and the collaborative process with the public.  Throughout the evening, writers from the teams will read their work and awards will be given to the best collaborative pieces.

Awards:
1st Prize = $300.00   2nd Prize = $150.00   3rd Prize = $ 50.00

Hors d'Oeuvres, Cash Bar

Free and open to the public.

The Marotta Hour
Electro Acoustic Trio

Stay downtown after work every third Thursday of the month and check out new sounds curated by local musician and international composer Larry Marotta.

This month Marotta mixes Boston-based musicians, Steve Norton (saxophone) and Vic Rawlings (circuitry), with Columbus percussion darling, Ryan Jewell. This performance will be an investigation of sound and performance gestalt.

The Marotta Hour is an electro-acoustic music series featuring unexpected sounds from free jazz to electronic to free-form improvisation. Come and hear some of the most cutting-edge musicians and composers from Columbus and beyond.

2009 Master of Fine Arts Exhibition: Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen

MFA 2009The Master of Fine Arts Exhibition returns to the OSU Urban Arts Space with  Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen. This year's exhibition presents the work of all graduating MFA students in the OSU Department of Art.  Showcasing research work in art + technology, ceramics, glass, painting + drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, this exhibition celebrates nineteen emerging artists.

Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen is organized by Jennifer Wulffson Bedford, independent art historian and former senior editor of the Bibliography of the History of Art at the Getty Research Institute, with Christopher Bedford, Curator of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts.


Cosponsored by the Department of Art and Colleges of the Arts and Humanities; funded by a grant from the Efroymson Family Fund, a CICF Fund, and supported by the John Fergus Family Fund.
