Join us in celebrating accessibility.
This reception features remarks on museum access by renowned disability studies scholar Georgina Kleege, as well as a variety of accessible tours of the 2009 MFA Exhibition: Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen. Committed to the goal of seamless access, the OSU Urban Arts Space has collaborated with Columbus arts and disability communities to make the space, the exhibitions and the programming accessible to all.
Tours at the reception will feature visual description, sign language, tactile examples of artwork, and opportunities to experience the artwork at a variety of levels. L. Scott Lissner, The Ohio Sate University ADA Coordinator, and Eva Ball, the OSU Urban Arts Space Accessibility Coordinator, will also conduct a tour designed especially for gallery and museum professionals that focuses specifically on the accessibility efforts of the OSU Urban Arts Space.
Light refreshments and entertainment. Free and open to all.

Face Time with OSU Dancers Ming-Shen Ku and Victoria Uris

Wednesday, April 29th noon to 1pm
A behind the scenes look at dance making and dance performance in preparation for OSU's Dance Downtown at the Capitol Theatre from May 7th through 9th.
OSU Department of Dance Guest Artist, Ming-Shen Ku, and resident choreographer, Victoria Uris, will present and discuss sections of their newest dances. Although usually working in Taiwan, choreographer and performer Ming-Shen Ku is currently completing a ten-week residency in the Department of Dance. Her new work for OSU dance incorporates live video feed with OSU's very talented live dancers. Uris has made a new collaborative work with dancers, "Alarums and Excursions," exploring a gamut of moods in Jose Evangelista's music.

2009 Master of Fine Arts Exhibition: Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen April 22nd - May 20th Reception: May 9th, 6 to 9pm
The Master of Fine Arts Exhibition returns to the OSU Urban Arts Space with Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen. This year's exhibition presents the work of all graduating MFA students in the OSU Department of Art. Showcasing research work in art + technology, ceramics, glass, painting + drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, this exhibition celebrates nineteen emerging artists.
Begged, Borrowed, and Stolen is organized by Jennifer Wulffson Bedford, independent art historian and former senior editor of the Bibliography of the History of Art at the Getty Research Institute, with Christopher Bedford, Curator of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts.
Cosponsored by the Department of Art and Colleges of the Arts and Humanities; funded by a grant from the Efroymson Family Fund, a CICF Fund, and supported by the John Fergus Family Fund.
