Sid Chafetz Exhibition Tour Community Discussion

Tuesday, October 14th 12 to 1pm Join education specialist, Molly Uline-Olmstead, for a discussion-based tour of Sid Chafetz's work.
Sid Chafetz, professor emeritus, has commented on his world-from local and national political issues to timeless aspects of the human condition-throughout his artistic career. A survivor of the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, a two-time Fulbright Scholar, world traveler, and internationally exhibited artist, Chafetz is one of the living treasures of Columbus.
Sid Chafetz: Engaging the World is on display through October 25th, 2008.
This tour is part of our brown bag series offered around noon throughout the month. Locally hand-roasted coffee is provided by Café Brioso.

Sid Chafetz: Speaking Out Community Conversation
|
Thursday, October 16th 5:30 to 7pm
Sid Chafetz has used his artwork as a platform to speak out about
provocative, even uncomfortable, issues. He is also one of the most
interesting people anyone is likely to meet, with deep insights and
passionate opinions about politics, literature, history, art, and
contemporary life. Join Ann Bremner, co-curator of this exhibition, and Bob Tauber, long-time Chafetz collaborator, for a wide-ranging
conversation about their perspectives on Chafetz and his art currently
on view. Chafetz will join them to answer
questions at the end of conversation.

Stay downtown after work every third Thursday of the month and check out new sounds curated by local musician and international composer Larry Marotta. This month we feature fluxmonkey with J-Guy Laughlin performing out-of-this-world analog electronics and drums. Also, discover a Larry Marotta and Ryan Jewell duo, you've never heard drums like these.
The Marotta Hour is an electro-acoustic music series featuring unexpected sounds from free jazz to electronic to free-form improvisation. Come and hear some of the most cutting-edge musicians and composers from Columbus and beyond. Suggested donation $5 to $10.
